Guy started it. Now I'll participate but only as far as I can. I just don't have a lot of time for books these days.
1) Cadfael (Series) by Ellis Peters (RIP). It took a couple of books to get into, but when the hook pierced my cheek, it must have been triple barbed. In fact, I was so hooked on the characters of the series that I was noticably depressed when I finished the last book.
2) Harry Potter (Series) by JK Rowling. There's just something about Harry Potter that captivates and rekindles my youthful fantasy life. I hate waiting for the next book to come out though... I'm not big on patience.
3) 'The Belgariad/Mallorean' (Series) by David Eddings. Guy introduced these to me many years ago and I've always enjoyed re-reading them.
4) Dragonlance (Series) by assorted writers. I don't recall how I first got into these, but they were great books that helped bridge the gap between my youth and adulthood. I still find the stories, particularly the dark path of Raistlin to be entertaining, although I don't recall the last time I read anything from the series.
5) Dirk Pitt (Series) by Clive Cussler. Ridiculous modern spy adventures, Dirk Pitt keeps me up reading to the effect of many baggy eyed mornings.
6) Discover Magazine (oops, not a book). My monthly link to the world of science. If they manage to keep their focus on reporting science and back away from the useless witticisms that have begun to plague the magazine, Discover will continue to feed my brain science soup fetish.
7) Men are from Mars, women are from Venus by John Gray. Would you believe it? Men and Women ARE different after all. Dang and I thought I was just a broken, emotionless creature with no hope. Thanks John for straightening that out.
8) O'Reilly (Technical manuals) by various authors. How many servers have I built over the years, how many scripts have I written, how many times have I cried desparingly in search of an answer only to find it right in front of my face? O'Reilly has always been there for me. Not much of a cover-to-cover read, but a terrible book to lose.
9) News Websites. Ok, again not a book, but I do read them from my notebook computer, does that not count?
I give up. I don't read books I don't like... oh wait, there is one book that I hated. It was terrible... but no, I won't post that here. I honestly don't remember what it was called anyway.
Mickael Maddison.
Oh... and I will only tag Arjun (you owe me buddy!) and Phil today.
