It's only a couple nights away. Let the shift change begin. Out with the old 2005 and in with the new 2006. All with the usual ceremonies, parties, and the joy of filling out tax forms.
Whether or not 2005 has been a good year for you personally, it's been an amazing year for the world. Amazing not always meaning "good" considering the record number of hurricanes, the aftermath of the Tsunami, earthquakes, the ongoing wars and the story of places like Darfur. While even though many tragic situations took place, the ever advancing technologies that power the wealthy nations have been proving useful in ways unexpected. We've seen New Orleans sink into chaos, only to find within days the return of order as communication lines begin to open, help arrives, and people begin locating missing family and friends. We've seen podcasting taking hold, allowing regular people within frightening situations to report to the world what is happening, and to seek help.
We've seen governments rise, and new governments fall. There have been wonderful births and saddening deaths. Every year we look forward with hope and trepidation, and every year we look back. We never really know what a new year will bring. Someone always says that the end of the world is near, and others proclaim the year as the down of a new age of something or other.
I look back at 2005 as a year of unexpected things. For me, it got off to a rough start and some hard decisions, while at the same time I was working away at my first studio effort. I've seen my business take a unexpected leap forward. I've watched my beautiful children growing and learning. I've had an amazing response to the release of my CD. The year is ending far more interesting than I had dared to anticipate when it began.
And I look forward to 2006 and the birth of my third child. I anticipate growth and change for my business, and I hope for success as I work at recording the songs for my next CD. What could be divined, there's only one way to know. I hope most for the great cliche; Peace on Earth.
