2 Doors are better than 1
It's one of those things I just can't put to rest. It happens so often, and every time I try to resign myself to one of the silly excuses likely used to justify the inaction. At times I'm almost certain that they do it on purpose.
What is this madman on the loose about tonight? What has this looney bird so worked up that he's seeing conspiracies in such mundane events as entering a commercial building?
Ok, here goes. Why, when skilled and educated architects and engineers go through such trouble to place double doors on so many buildings, do so many businesses continuously open only one of the two doors?
It seems silly, but think, how many times have you found yourself rushing to get to an appointment or a meeting and you grab the wrong door? Sure, it's a small and humbling inconvenience, but it is, nonetheless, a little frustrating.
Perhaps someday I'll have a double door on my office. Perhaps someday I'll find it's just too much work to open both doors every day. Perhaps I'll find some good excuse to make me feel good for keeping that door locked; or, even more likely, I'll randomly choose which door to keep locked on any given day and carefully position my desk as to keep a clear view of those who dare to cross the threshold. Maybe I'm not crazy. Maybe it really is a conspiracy!
