It's been an interesting day. I've had the pleasure of spending a couple hours popping into some of our local clients offices and suprising them with some of the latest in SilverServers attire.
It's funny to see the shock on a clients face when you show up, you're not selling anything, and in fact, you're giving them something just to thank them for their business. I remember some of the times that it's happened to me. I've always been impressed when someone I do business with sends me a shirt, calls to take me out for lunch, or even just stops by to say "hi".
Of course, nobody's perfect, and I did take the time, just as I will right now, to shamelessly plug my CD, but that was just my duty as an artist. (I read somewhere that part of being an artist is constant self promotion). Anyway, I don't think that rubbed anyone the wrong way. In fact, I'd say they all seemed pleasantly suprised to find I'm not just a geek with an internet company.
It's not always easy to show, but I do appreciate the business my customers bring to me. Hosting is often a thankless business, as those who don't know or understand the technologies involved in providing this service, also rarely understand it's value. Today I was able to give them a more tangible reason to keep doing business with SilverServers; not for the free golf shirts, it's simply good to do business with professional people who are thankful for your patronage.
